Sadly The Bridge Gallery has had to close its dooes for the last time.
Last year's partial road closures following the collapse of the Old Courthouse left the Gallery cut off from the rest of the town.
The repairs were the "straw that broke the camel's back" alongside the cost of living crisis and government changes.
The Gallery was run by Carlie-Rose Bush, Proprietor and Art Curator and her husband Ben Bush - Resident Artist. As well as their three dogs Floyd, Red and Luna (Marketing Coordinators and Resident Models).
All of the Artists and Artisans featured in the Bridge Gallery Collection are friends and family - predominantly Cumbrian based. Knowing our Artists well means The Bridge Gallery can represent them and their art with enthusiasm and a good understanding of their practice. All of the work is handpicked and curated by Carlie-Rose most of which are one of a kind and limited pieces. Whether through subject matter, process, or materials; the work honours the outdoor environment and wildlife.
The Bridge Gallery Collection included cold wax and oil Paintings by Jaqcui Bassett who paints her Lake District walks entirely from memory ,Contemporary Lino prints inspired by Castlerigg Stone Circle by Cockermouth's artist Anne Waggot Knott, Sustainably sourced wood turned bowls and salt and Pepper mills by Jonathan Leech, pottery inspired by the Solway firth from Lauren Frost, Eco printed wall hangings by Deborah Dawn of Leaf and of course star filled landscape night photography by Ben Bush.
Our Artists are environmentally conscious often using surplus materials to collage greeting cards of Lake District scenes and British bird life.
